Reading the Bible
Why read the Bible?
Christians through the ages agree that the Bible is not like any other book. It is the inspired word of God, and so is (in its own words) "living and active". No wonder people find it "reads them" as they read it. It feeds us too, growing our knowledge and love of God.
How can I get started?
There are many helpful published notes and apps to help you read different parts of it, or systematically read all of it over a year or two. Many now offer audio as well. Here are two particular plans to read the whole Bible, that have a little in-built grace to them, realising that there are always some days where it is impossible to read anything:
- The Navigators Bible Reading Plan: the whole Bible in one year, looking at 4 different parts of the Bible for 25 days each month.
- Tim Chester's "Three Year Weekly Plan": in 3 years this covers the Old Testament once and the New Testament twice.
