Church Council
The Church Council is the main decision-making group for the spiritual and practical life of the church, acting on behalf of the congregations. The members reflect the ecumenical nature of the church, and also acts as the Parochial Church Council for the Church of England parish.
Members include...
- the Lead Minister and other ecumenical partner ministers,
- Church Wardens,
- the Treasurer,
- a Secretary,
- representatives of all four denominations,
- "Ordinary" members.
Ordinary Members are elected to the council for their willingness to serve and their gifts and commitment rather than in any relationship to denominations. The Council seeks to operate as a united group representing the entire Church.
In addition to representatives on the Basingstoke Deanery Synod, there are representatives from Christ Church on the local Methodist Circuit and URC District Council, and it can co-opt members for yearly terms who it feels can aid the work of the Council.
