Whether in the storms of life or in the harbour during the calm times of life, we need an anchor for our souls. Jesus Himself is our hope, our anchor and God’s sure promises give us strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us.

As Christians we are called not to hope in hope itself, but in Jesus, and all that is promised in Him. This anchor is the certain hope of salvation God has provided in Christ. And it also provides a steadiness for us as we encounter and endure the various storms of life.

Upon salvation we don’t immediately lose our sinful nature but we do open ourselves to the influence of the Holy Spirit. The more we seek to walk in the spirit the more we starve our sinful nature.

This sermon is about our call to continually keep walking in the Spirit opening our hearts for Him to influence us more and more and grow in His fruit and crucify our sinful nature.
