Race resources
As well as being able to watch our Sunday service for 14.2.2021 exploring Racial Justice here are some resources to help inform ourselves about the issues, and what we can do in response:
- Noughts + Crosses BBC TV series from 2020 available on iPlayer. This is an imaginative love story set in an England where history had played out differently, and 'blacks' had most of the privileges and all the power, and 'whites' were the underclass. It's a powerful adaptation of novels by Malorie Blackman.
- ONE: a video conversation about prejudice and racism and the church, from the perspective of 5 English church leaders with a variety of nationalities, backgrounds and skin tones.
- We need to talk about Race is a short but provocative book by British Christian Ben Lindsay, SPCK, 2019.
- How to Build Truly Diverse Gospel Communities, article by Felix Aremo.
- Buy Fairtrade! The Fairtrade Foundation help make sure we're not exploiting workers in parts of the world without out historic advantages. For some details on one recent decision -- KitKats won't now include Fairtrade chocolate, read this summary of the issues.
