Christian Ministers sometimes ask themselves how relevant, how connected, their ministry (and that of their church) is. At least I did, as a church-based minister - and still feel this question is important, as the world changes fast and the Church seeks to catch up, and maintain a missional and evangelistic edge.

Ascension - a neglected day, or a wonderful day?

Ascension Day (celebrated tomorrow as I write this), is always on a Thursday. At Junior School, it stood out for me (being at a C of E school) as a day for a compulsory service at the Parish Church, which I quite enjoyed, and then a day off school (which I enjoyed even more....!)

Hello Everyone,
My name is Michael Banfield, my wife is Linda, and you will sometimes also see our grandchildren Jericho and Rose with us at Christ Church. We've recently joined the church as Baptist members, as we have previously been life-long Baptists. I'm actually a recently-retired ordained Baptist minister, and my last "church" was London Luton Airport (!), where I was full-time Senior Chaplain for eighteen years, ministering to people of all faiths and none, and leading a volunteer team of ten part-time chaplains.
