Youth, Children and Families

A significant feature at Christ Church is the work with children and young people. On a Sunday there are around 60 children and young people involved in various groups. We are thankful to God for the committed team of volunteers who share in leading the children and young people in building a relationship with Jesus. Indeed, 'building relationships' is at the heart of what we do with youth and children's work at Christ Church. We pray that all the children and young people will build an ever stronger relationship with Jesus and serve him at home and at school.

Children

Creche (0-3 years)

Babies and toddlers are cared for in the Creche on Sunday mornings during the 10.30am service by a rota of people, all of whom, like all those working with any children or teenagers at Christ Church, have been CRB checked. There is a wide variety of toys to play with and in the warmer weather there is a fenced off patio with ride-on toys to enjoy! Parents/carers are welcome to stay in the Creche with their children if they would like to; some children especially appreciate this on their first visit.

Kids' Club

Bring your friends to Christ Church Chineham for crafts, food, fun and games.

Kids' Club takes place 5.00-6:30pm usually on the second Saturday in the month, check the Kids Club flyer for the next date.

CC Lightcatchers (3 - 11 Years)

Three different groups meet on Sunday mornings to learn more about Jesus and the Bible. The individual groups are called Moon Beams, Stars and Comets, and the overall group name is CC Lightcatchers, the plan being for the children to "catch the light" of Jesus! We have lots of fun, and craft, games, songs, and stories are usually on the agenda. All focused on building a relationship with Jesus. CC Lightcatchers sponsor a young girl called Sulmy who lives in Honduras.

CCBBies

CCBBies is a group for pre-school children and their parents/carers. We meet on Thursday mornings during term time from 10-11:30 am and use stories, songs, crafts and activities to learn about Jesus. Refreshments are provided and the children always make something take home! There is no charge and all are welcome.

Schools

Christ Church has good links with the three schools in the parish and ministers from the church regularly take assemblies and welcome them on visits to the church.

Families

Messy Church

A time of creativity, worship and food! Aimed at families, but all welcome. Do you enjoy crafts, music, games, stories and food? Would you and your family like to go to Church but find Sundays difficult? No charge.
Please note that parents/carers are required to stay with their children.

Youth

Introduction

As part of our commitment to young people we employ a full time Youth Work Leader Dima Lutsenko. His role is to oversee the youth work providing strategy, guidance and supporting the youth leaders.

Pathfinders

Pathfinder sessions consist of games, activities, Bible study and prayer. One Sunday a month is used for sharing and prayer where we remember those in need and pray for them. Pathfinder sessions are high energy and saturated with fun. Previous study topics have included death, an overview of the Bible and the recent Lift the Label campaign looking at trade justice, debt and exploitation. We also have a thriving midweek "homegroup" giving us more time to look at the Bible and how it applies tour lives.

T.G.I.F.

On every Friday during term-time, a youth club open to all youth in Chineham of secondary school age. The purpose of the club is to provide somewhere to meet friends and socialise. The format is very informal with games, music and a tuck shop. 'Thank God It's Friday' provides a safe environment in which to build relationships and encourage people into the church building. Please contact the Parish Office for the specific dates of TGIF sessions.

re:fill

re:fill is aimed at the over 14s, who are themselves involved in some way (i.e. leading edge discussion groups, helping with the under 11s work on a Sunday morning, doing SongPro etc.). We pray together and discuss a different subject each time. The idea is to feed those who themselves are giving out themselves. At the end of the session we join the service again and take communion.

Youth Cafe

The Youth Cafe provides a safe place with good food and good environment where 11 to 18 year olds can chill out. Staffed by volunteers from a number of churches in and around Basingstoke, the cafe is run in London Street United Reformed Church situated in Basingstoke Town Centre.

Christian Holidays

Many of the children and young people from Christ Church attend Christian summer camps. For details please take a look at these websites:
