What’s
been happening in July:
- The ladies
again had wonderful weather for their camping weekend in the New Forest. Good fun was had by all – watch out for the photos!
- The men
enjoyed real ale, good fellowship and a trip on the Watercress Line.
The
families at July’s Messy Church heard the story of the “Lost Sheep” and
had fun making lost sheep badges, lost sheep cakes, lost sheep
bookmarks…you get the picture!
- The Ukraine team served up a tasty “full English” breakfast on 17 July. As well as a quiz, the
Ukrainian National Anthem and the raising of the Ukrainian flag adding to
the fun of the event, we spent some time in prayer for the mission trip.
- Mark
O’Sullivan (our mission partner with the Baptist Missionary Society)
visited us on 18 July and updated us on his work in Bulgaria, as well as his thoughts and plans for the future.
- Mark also joined
us at the Church Picnic at Sherborne St John on 18 July, which was followed
by tea served by some of the young people in Comets and Pathfinders.
- Gordon
Randall spent three weeks in Uganda as part of his training, and returned
inspired, full of stories and wearing an African top!
- The
children in Year 6 at Four Lanes joined us at Christ Church for a leavers’
service on 22 July.
- We
completed our sermon series on Job.
- Having seen
over 115 people as part of the “one to one” initiative since the beginning
of the year, Ian will now be taking a break and start up the meetings
again in October.
What’s
coming up in August:
- Although
most groups stop meeting during the summer break, CCBBies will continue to
meet for “come and play” sessions on three dates. Pre-school children and
their parents/carers are invited to come along; older siblings are also
welcome!

- Afternoon
Tea will be served at 3pm on 24 August by the Luncheon Club team. All are
welcome - tickets available from Jan Markey.
- After
months of planning, prayer and preparation, the Ukraine team will finally
be going to the Ukraine from 16-25 August! Please do pray for them in
their travels and their work with the folk there.
- A number of
young people from Christ Church will be going on a range of Christian
summer camps with CPAS, Scripture Union and CYE – do pray that this will
be a time of fun and refreshment, as well as deepening relationships with
Jesus.
- During
August we will be looking at the family tree of Jesus, both at the 9am
services and 10.30am services of All Age Worship.
